Due to the instability of the economy and rising unemployment numbers, many of us have become overly concerned about making our homes a safer and more secure environment, and have installed burglar alarms to protect us. Recent statistics show that for every 100,000 people in the U.S., 750 of them will eventually be victimized by a burglar and most of them will not have any alarms installed prior to that event. Since the recession started in the latter part of 2008, it is estimated that a burglary occurs once every twelve seconds, hence the growing popularity of burglar alarms.

Even more interesting is the fact that many a burglar today has become quite brazen and will break into a home during daylight hours even when people are in the home. Well over 60% of all burglaries are occurring during this part of the day. So the time of day or night that burglaries occur is now irrelevant. What is important is that a large portion of these crimes may not have occurred if burglar alarms had been installed in the first place.
